Four Delectable Peach Smoothies
Peaches are popular in summertime, and a great source of fiber, vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants. They are also low in calories, which makes them a perfect choice for making healthy and delicious smoothies.
Fresh and ripe peaches are very flavorful to enjoy as a fruit. But it takes a little bit of care to maximize the flavor potential of peaches in smoothies, just as in ice creams. You could easily make a bland peach ice cream or smoothie if you aren’t careful.
So here I go over different ways of making peach smoothies, pairing it with the most suitable ingredients. And also showing you the best ways of picking the ingredients and presenting these smoothies.
Here I share with you the four options, which you can choose for a snack, breakfast or dessert:

- Peach yogurt smoothie: Also known as peach lassi, this adaption of the traditional Indian beverage is a crowd-pleaser that never fails to satisfy. It is simple and made with easily available ingredients.
- Peach raspberry smoothie: So vibrant and colorful with contrasting ripples of raspberry and peach. It is sure to please kids and adults. Add a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for the famous peach-melba like taste.
- Peach passion fruit drink: This is so fancy and probably most interesting of all in appearance and taste. Passion fruit is not as commonly used, but it is a great ingredient to pair with peach. The colors and flavors go along so well. Although this is a mocktail, I’ve kept the consistency thicker, so included with smoothies.
- Peach coconut smoothie: A combination of coconut milk, cream and crushed ice makes this a thick and rich beverage. Then we finely crush candied maple pecans and sprinkle it in between layers.
Recipe Ingredients
Here are notes for most of the ingredients. We don't need all the ingredients for each variation, and you can skip some ingredients as per choice.

- Peaches: I use frozen peaches, as they are picked and processed in the peak of season, so have maximum flavor, color and also easy to use. If using fresh peaches, make sure that they are very ripe and flavorful. Also peel the peaches before blending.
- Yogurt: Use full fat or reduced fat yogurt. Some fat brings out the creaminess and flavor of peaches. If using non-fat yogurt, add other flavors to boost the taste.
- Milk: You can use dairy or plant based milk. I chose full fat or regular milk.
- Lemon Juice: This adds a hint of tartness and balances the taste.
- Sweetener: I prefer to use honey or maple syrup to sweeten my smoothies. You can use other sweeteners as well.
- Peach Jam: This is a secret ingredient to boost the peach flavor even further. Peaches are concentrated in a jam and that really adds a nice touch. But I use peach jam sweetened only with fruit juices. Dried peaches are also a good option to intensify peach flavor. Just soak the dried fruit and blend.
- Sparkling water: I use sparkling mineral water to add a nice fizz to the peach passion drink. You can use soda water too.
- Passion fruit: These are available at well stocked or upscale super markets such as Whole Foods. Typically they are placed near tropical and exotic fruits. You can always search online for the nearest grocery store selling these fruits, which are a delight to use.
- Coconut Milk: Use full fat coconut milk in can or chilled cartons.
- Flavors: A touch of ground cardamom, cinnamon, grated ginger or vanilla infuses a complex taste.
- Candied Maple Pecans: You can buy these readymade or make them as we did for our maple ice cream.
- Salt: A pinch of salt will enhance the sweetness and flavors.
How To Make Peach Smoothies
Brief overview below. **Full recipe at the end of blog post.
- Blend: Simply process all the ingredients and chill.
- Beverages with accent layers: Prepare raspberry purée, scoop out passion fruit pulp, crush maple pecans, and make ice cubes with peach passion fruit mixture.

Top Tips
Have all the ingredients chilled prior to making the recipe.
Layer different colors and textures alternately for a nice presentation.
Use extra wide smoothie straws when there are chunkier ingredients in the beverage.
Remember to blend the fruits ahead of time and freeze to make ice cubes with the mixture, such as the peach passion fruit drink. It's a great idea to chill the drink without diluting it.
How To Serve
- Use elegant tall or stemmed glasses. Make sure to decorate the drinks with garnishes.

Variations
These peach beverages are vegetarian, gluten free, egg free, soy free, grain free and refined sugar free. Below are some suggestions, but I have not tried some of them.
- Vegan and Dairy Free: Use plant based milk and yogurt. Try coconut cream instead of heavy cream. To keep it vegan, sweeten with maple syrup and not honey. You can replace yogurt with banana, but that will also add its’ flavor.
- Lower Carb: To reduce carbs, use coconut milk and unsweetened coconut yogurt. And sweeten with low carb sweeteners.
- Higher Protein: Add nut butters, chia seeds, flaxseed meal or hemp seeds to the smoothies.
- No Added Sugar: Try to sweeten the beverages with other fruits such as bananas (will add its’ flavor) or dates (will change color) or non nutritive sweeteners such as allulose. You can also skip honey or maple syrup.
- Nut Free: For the peach coconut smoothie, replace maple pecans with crushed sesame candy.
Health Benefits
Peach smoothies are nutritious, and full of vitamins, minerals, nutrients and antioxidants.
Peaches are nutrient rich fruits that also offer many health benefits. It can help with the gut, heart health, protect your skin and prevent from cancers. These fruits are also rich in immune supporting nutrients and antioxidants.
Milk and yogurt are great sources of high quality protein, calcium, B vitamins, vitamin D, potassium and phosphorus.
Sweetened only with honey or maple syrup they are also refined sugar free. You can skip the sweetener to lower the sugars.

Recipe FAQs
Fresh peaches that are ripe, sweet and flavorful are of course a good option for making smoothies. However, it would be better to peel the peaches. One trick you can try is to freeze the peaches with skin on. After defrosting, the peel comes off easily.
The blended smoothies will keep well for 1 day in the refrigerator. However, the drinks once assembled in contrasting layers are best consumed immediately, or they may separate.
You surely can add other fruits. If you want to maintain the same color, then choose apricots, apples, nectarines, oranges, papaya, passion fruit and pineapple. Fruits that add flavor but change the appearance, are blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, plums, cherries and figs. You can however layer these fruits as we did with our peach raspberry smoothie.
